Valued UHIN members, We recognize that your work doesn’t always begin and end when the traditional workday does. And neither does our support for you. Starting today, our Customer Service department will be available from 7 am until 6 pm (Mountain time) Monday through Friday. On-call support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week if you need immediate assistance after hours.

UHIN is honored to receive a supplemental grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). The nearly $625,000 award is supplemental to a $2.6 million ONC interoperability grant UHIN received in 2015. The new award allows UHIN to build on its successful work achieved with the original grant, and focus on:
  • Exchanging ADT Alerts – UHIN will work with the health information exchanges (HIE) in Idaho, Nevada and Nebraska to exchange admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) alerts for patients who live in one state and seek medical care in one of the other states. The grant also allows UHIN to expand on the ADTs it already exchanges in Wyoming, as well as to other rural areas of Utah and Long-Term Post-Acute Care facilities. This supports greater care coordination between geographically-diverse medical teams.
  • Developing a Provider Directory – UHIN will develop a multi-state Provider Directory offering improved accuracy and more information than currently exists. Focusing on Direct addresses, a secure email system, the Provider Directory will allow physicians to have greater and more accurate information about their fellow physicians across the West, allowing them opportunities to share patient information and make referrals across state lines.
  • Patient Portal – As part of its original grant, UHIN is currently developing a patient portal that will allow patients to view their medical records and securely communicate with their healthcare providers. This supplemental grant provides a new functionality: allowing patients the ability to correct the primary care physician that has been attributed to them by their insurance provider.
